Congress Park Basement

We took a 100 year old Congress Park home with low basement ceilings and turned it into a phenomenal living space. We did this by first demolishing the whole basement, removing the concrete slab and excavating down 9 inches and then pouring back a new slab floor. This allowed us to gain 6 inches more in ceiling height. We removed the structural bearing wall and replaced it with a new beam and two mono-posts allowing us to completely redesign the basement. Then we installed new vent runs into the floor joist to keep the basement ceiling as high as possible. Once the finishing work was done, this basement became one of the most used areas in the whole house.
